A Counterbalance forklift refers to a forklift along with a weight which counters the balance, enabling the weight of the load to be distributed equally across the forklift arms. Counterbalance forklifts are made so the weight behind the center of gravity is counterbalanced by the weight on the lift. The load is projected out from the front of the equipment so it is visible to the driver of the forklift. This kind of forklift truck should just be used on prepared surface or on level, stable ground.
Training is needed for forklift drivers to understand the correct method to spread the load equally across the forklift arms. Trainees would know how to raise and lower the load vertically and how to tilt the forklift mast both forwards and backwards between 5 and 15 degrees. Individuals training will learn the RTITB standards needed for safely operating the forklift. Trainees will also become familiar with the kinds of attachments for the arms of the forklift.
